ChemiCo is a unique global platform to allow students compete nationally and internationally in the application of theoretical knowledge of Chemistry. The questions are designed with a philosophy that a talented student with only basic theoretical knowledge be able to solve Olympiad-style problems. Students from 19 countries had participated in ChemiCo 2018.

About ChemiCo

Objectives

· To provide individualized comprehensive assessment of the theoretical knowledge, its application and analytical skills.
· To recognize and reward best students and cultivate academic excellence in science.

Contestants

ChemiCo is open to any secondary and high school student. Contestants are evaluated and ranked in two separate categories: 
Junior Category (Grades 8, 9 & 10)
Senior Category (Grades 11 & 12)

Results & Awards

· All students will receive their score-cards including their final score with detailed analysis and ranking.
· Each student will receive certificates of participation.
Top students will be awarded Certificates of Distinction at Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories.

Participation Fee

Participation fee is US $10 per student. The country coordinator can charge extra fee up to US $10 to cover its management and operational costs.

How is ChemiCo Conducted?

The competition is conducted online and organized by ChemiCo appointed country coordinator in respective countries. All school/institution coordinators shall cooperate with respective country coordinators to ensure smooth organization of ChemiCo.

Exam Format

ChemiCo is a 90-minute online competition, which consists of multiple-choice questions. Students are penalized for wrong answers. The questions only require knowledge of general secondary school chemistry syllabus. Core concepts include stoichiometry calculations, chemistry of reactions, periodic table, atomic structure and chemical bonding, experimental chemistry. Most questions are designed by putting emphasis on application of core concepts and logical and analytical thinking rather than knowledge alone in order to allow equal opportunities for all secondary school students.
